Virtual Lifestyle Management (VLM) Service:
In 2008, the University of Pittsburg and DPS Health released the Virtual Lifestyle Management (VLM) service. VLM was developed to help sedentary and overweight adults with, or at-risk for, diabetes to eat better, be more active, lose weight and keep it off. The VLM has been deployed at more than twenty sites, with more than 100 clinicians and over two thousand patients.

Physical Activity Promotion Tools:
DPS Health, through its long standing partnership with the Suzuken Company, a leading manufacturer of accelerometer devices, offers multiple online tools that help clinicians and researchers promote and measure physical activity. Our web applications have been successfully used by numerous research and clinical organizations and more than 1000 subjects and patients.

SMS Text Messaging Support:
DPS Health has developed a number of custom SMS interventions including a tool designed to strengthen health system connections with patients and patients’ peer-to-peer support. In 2009, DPS Health and UCLA launched this text messaging tool to support social connections among women with diabetes – the solution has been successfully tested and piloted in South Africa.

Nutrition Management and Meal Planning:
DPS Health developed a web application platform designed to provide personalized meal plan suggestions for individuals with diabetes. This diabetes self-management tool offers support, appropriate meal plans and tools to track meals and physical activity. The tool helps patients connect with a larger network to provide support for healthy behavior change support and encouragement.
