DPS Health Announces Changes to Executive Team Organization is restructuring the executive team to reflect new strategy to grow value of products and services
(LOS ANGELES, CA) September 7th, 2011 —DPS Health, a leading healthcare software company, announced changes to the executive team and organizational structure to reflect a new strategy for continued growth and the further development of its products and services. The strategy is designed to provide the same high-level of customer service partners have come to expect, while also preparing for an increase in the number of partners utilizing its online and mobile weight loss products. For example, DPS Health’s Virtual Lifestyle Management (VLM) service is used by dozens of healthcare organizations and thousands of patients. As part of this executive level restructuring, president Adam B. Kaufman, is leaving the organization to assume the role of General Manager, Healthcare Solutions at dLife (a LifeMed Media brand). DPS Health and dLife have been in discussions to form a strategic relationship to leverage both organizations products and expertise for quite some time, and Adam’s move to dLife will accelerate talks of forming a strategic partnership between both organizations. “It is never easy for an organization to decide on significant executive level changes, especially when it means losing someone like Adam, but we are confident this strategy will result in fantastic success for the organization,” said Neal Kaufman, M.D., M.P.H., DPS Health’s co-founder, who will continue as CEO. In announcing the changes, Dr. Kaufman commented that, “We take it as the ultimate compliment for the organization and validation of the revolution we are bringing to the healthcare industry, that an organization as respected as dLife would want to bring Adam on board. When we founded DPS Health more than 7 years ago, the industry as a whole was not thinking about or looking for our type of technological products or solutions. It shows that we have been on the cutting edge, helping the industry to see the value in these products, and that the industry is beginning to follow suit. DPS Health is excited for the opportunity Adam has at dLife and look forward to working closely with his new organization to bring about the changes needed to help overweight patients receive life altering counseling that is efficient and affordable.” A leader in the fast-growing behavior change and patient self-management field, DPS Health has developed the proprietary application framework, the Behavior Change SuiteTM (BCS), a software foundation for online and mobile interventions. BCS-based interventions assist clinicians in helping large numbers of patients to adopt and sustain health-promoting behaviors. DPS Health has multi-year, long-term partnerships with more than 50 healthcare organizations in the U.S., Canada and Japan, with customers from Fortune 1000 companies including multi-national corporations, large integrated healthcare delivery systems, diabetes centers, disease management groups, health plans, employee and workplace wellness programs, and the U.S. Defense Department. An example of the use of DPS Health’s pioneering technology is the Virtual Lifestyle Management TM (VLM) service. Developed in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh, and deployed on the BCS, VLM has been used by over 2,500 individuals at more than 25 customer organizations. VLM is the only online version of the NIH’s landmark 2001 Diabetes Prevention Program’s lifestyle intervention. “DPS Health is entering a new phase.” adds Dr. Kaufman. “Along with our partners, we have demonstrated the power of our technology to engage patients, support clinicians and help individuals achieve lasting behavior change. Our new focus on extending the adoption of, and payment for, these interventions will lead to their widespread use within the healthcare system helping tens of thousands of patients improve their own health.”
