DPS Health develops and sells obesity-related, clinically-proven, effective patient behavior change and self-management support interventions through a Software as a Service (SaaS) model.
"Although the digital health field is young, the early entrants have shown potential to reduce system wide costs and improve patient outcomes. We think that if the regulatory and reimbursement environments are favorable, there could be significant growth in this field."
Our Business
DPS Health continues to innovate. We continuously refine our current solutions and bring to market new engaging web and mobile self-management support interventions that help your overweight patients through healthy behavior change. Below is a list of our current Software as a Service solutions.

Virtual Lifestyle Management (VLM) Service:
First launched in 2006, the VLM has been deployed at more than 20 clinical settings and has engaged thousands of patients. This clinically-proven effective patient behavior change program was developed by researchers from the University of Pittsburgh leveraging DPS Health’s technology. In 2008, the University of Pittsburg licensed Virtual Lifestyle Management (VLM) to DPS Health. We now offer this self-management support intervention to clinical settings. VLM was developed to help sedentary and overweight adults to avoid developing diabetes. Currently deployed at more than a dozen sites, more than 50 clinicians and thousands of overweight patients, with or at risk for diabetes and other chronic diseases, have or are using VLM.

Physical Activity Promotion Tools:
DPS Health has a long-established partnership with the Suzuken Company, a leading manufacturer of accelerometer devices. With Suzuken, we have developed and now offer multiple online tools that help clinicians and researchers promote and measure physical activity. Our web applications have been successfully used by more than 15 research and clinical organizations and more than 1000 subjects and patients.

Text Messaging Support:
DPS Health has developed a number of custom interventions including a patient text messaging tool designed to strengthen health system connections with patients as well as patient peer-to-peer support. In 2009, DPS Health and UCLA launched a text messaging tool to support social connections among women with diabetes – the solution has been successfully tested and piloted in South Africa.

Nutrition Management and Meal Planning:
DPS Health developed and launched a web application designed to provide personalized meal plan suggestions for individuals with diabetes. This diabetes self- management tool offers support, appropriate meal plans and tools to track meals and physical activity. The tool helps patients connect with a larger network to provide support for healthy behavior change support and encouragement.
